The sediments and dirt in the water cause abrasion in heating and cooling systems, in pumps and other fittings, decreases energy efficiency, and leads to defects and corrosion. The formation of dirt occurs particularly more in underfloor heating systems and installations with plastic pipes due to the corrosion deriving from the oxygen diffusion.

The ordinary type of plastic filters are difficult to clean and maintain by users and therefore the cleaning is generally neglected. This negligence causes filter to get blocked, reduces the system efficiency and hinders heating.

MIT Strainers have two main advantages compared to ordinary filters :
- The filtered dirt accumulates at the bottom of the apparatus. This way the system is never blocked.
- Accumulated sediment is easily discharged through the discharge valve.
